Aamir Khan directed Taare Zameen Par which was doing a good business in the USA, even after 3 weeks of release.
The 3rd weekend is usually the time when a movie loses its ground, but that hasn't happened to Taare Zameen Par. It accumulated $102,347 with a per screen average of $1,599. Its total collections now stand at an impressive $1,104,337.
This is probably the first ever Aamir Khan film that has made so much money in such a short time.
The script for the third installment in this saga has yet to written down, but plans are already in motion for a fourth flick.
According to some Indian newspaper reports, Munna and Circuit could die at the end of Munna Bhai Chale Amerika (the third film in the series) with the premise for the fourth being laid down. In Munna Bhai Aur Khuda, the two helpless souls will meet the creator of the universe and try to worm their way back to earth. God does agree… but he has a condition… they have to help out 10 people within one day or else they will end up back in the after-life.
What are your thoughts on this story in the Munna Bhai series… do you think it will work?
Shahrukh Khan’s Chak De India(Come on India in English) however has nothing to do with cricket, and at times even criticises the over-hyped stature of the game in the country. Releasing just 5 days before the country’s 60th Independence day, Chak De has a strong patriotic sentiment attached to it as well as a social message. It would certainly qualify as one of India’s first sports based films, and there is no doubt that it’s a winner.
The film brings to light the real life facts such as the low penetration and lack of encouragement towards sports in the country and discrimination against women. In today’s day and age where women are truly empowered all over the world(even the US may get a Female President soon), more than 50% of India’s rural population still considers the female to be good for only cooking and cleaning. It also brings to light the power struggles that take place in most Indian teams and the problems created by the senior players and the sports administration.
Although the movie has no other big stars other than Shahrukh, it is still quite entertaining and is packed with lots of sports action, humor and drama. The performances of most girls is good, but the punjabi and haryanvi girls really stand out. “You Get Out you Ulli Ki Patthi “, is just one of the many hilarious dialogues spoken by the strong player from punjab, this one spoken when the Australian referee asks her to leave the field. Another one of the great dialogues where shahrukh says “Hamare Hockey main Chakke nahi hote“, when he stops a guy with a cricket bat from assaulting a female player, is one of the instances where the movie takes a dig at cricket. Finally with Chak De, King Khan proves that he can do non-romantic and non-karan johar films as well and really stands out with his performance.
Sanjay Dutt is a brilliant actor but becomes tremendous when framed as MUNNA BHAI. In his film "Munna Bhai MBBS" was a great hit.Than came the BAPU'S film "Lage raho Munna Bhai" which was a blockbuster movie. In both these films something is in common. Of course it is the characters MUNNA and CIRCUIT but each film was a comedy with a film spreading message among people. The film was expressed in a total TAPORI style which was liked by the people and SANJAY himself.
Both the films "Munna Bhai MBBS" & "Lage Raho Munna Bhai" have MADE DIFFERENCE in bollywood. In Munna Bhai MBBS a term called "JAADU KI JHAPPI" was placed which expressed a formula to solve crisis. And in Lage Raho Munna Bhai word "Gandigiri " was used to describe how things can be done with non-violence.
The upcoming film of Munna Bhai "Munna Bhai Chale America " is a hidden secrete. What can be this film about ?WATCH THE CLIP below
Munnabhai’ seems to have made a deep impact on actor Sachin Sharma as he was out on the streets of Santacruz in Mumbai holding a placard that read ‘Gandhigiri’ and accompanying him were a group of musicians that played the drums loud. First we thought that Sachin is shooting for his show ‘Parivaar’, but on probing we found that Sachin was protesting against Actor cum Producer Milind Soman.
In 2007, Sachin had acted in a show being Produced by Milind Soman, the actor has not still received his dues of Rs. 7 lakhs, so he decided to protest outside Milind Soman’s Production office. Sachin is hopeful that his peaceful and creative protest will make Milind realize his mistake and he would soon receive his cheque and for right now our Sachin loves being in ‘Munnabhai’ avtaar.
Sachin Sharma takes ‘Gandhigiri’ from 'reel' life to 'real' life.
